It was a beautiful show on March 12 when the Barn Dance welcomed one of the grand ladies of the Grand Ole Opry, the great Connie Smith! Connie brought her crackerjack band from Nashville, the Sundowners, and treated us to her magnificent voice and all of her many classic hit songs. Both shows were packed and our audiences proved that she is well loved and as popular as ever. Thanks for a great show Connie, and come back to see us!
Our guest bluegrass group was also a crowdpleaser. The Williamson family band--known as Williamson Branch--came to us all the way from Murfreesboro, Tennessee... dad Kevin, mom Debbie, and their three young daughters, Melody, Cadence and Caroline. Their bluegrass gospel music, comedy and clog dancing delighted us all. Such talented folks, and we look forward to having them back in the not-too-distant future!
And of course the cast of the Old Dominion Barn Dance had a wonderful time entertaining everyone as usual. Our audiences were extremely receptive to our new 2016 dance troupe from Suffolk, VA, the Peanut City Cloggers, and to our new staff band, Danny Menzies & the Barn Burners. Many thanks to all who came out to help support traditional country and bluegrass entertainment in the Richmond area, and be sure to check out photos from the show on our ARCHIVE page.
We hope you'll join us at the Gene Watson show in May... see you at the Barn Dance!
