Our 2017 Cast!


Donna Meade is a former Mercury-Polygram recording artist and a member of the Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame. Born in Chase City, VA and raised in Richmond, Donna was a cast member of the 1973 revival of the Old Dominion Barn Dance.

In 1989 she met her future husband Jimmy Dean while appearing on TV's Nashville Now Show, and for over two decades they resided in Richmond, performing, writing songs together and traveling the world. Since Dean's passing in 2010 Donna is enjoying performing again, as well as producing the Old Dominion Barn Dance and the annual Jimmy Dean Music Festival, and co-producing & managing country music star Tony Jackson.

Having appeared all over the world, these days Donna enjoys staying close to home with her four miniature poodles, and for the past four years has been married to her childhood sweetheart, Jayson Stevens. Donna is the writer of the Barn Dance theme song and is proud to be serving as hostess!



As a 53 year veteran of the music business, ‘Uncle Wiley’ Southworth has had a love and fascination with music, art and entertainment for as long as he can remember. His jovial manner along with his legendary knowledge and retention of music trivia makes him the perfect choice as our emcee.

A professional drummer who has worked alongside many of the biggest country music stars in the business, as well as a successful commercial artist, Wiley is also a veteran of radio broadcasting. Since 1988 his experience as a radio personality has included stints at some of Richmond’s most popular radio stations, including WTVR, WXGI and the 50,000 watt WRVA.

Today Wiley continues to pursue his passion for music, art and entertainment on a daily basis, and says he is honored to serve as your master of ceremonies for the revived Old Dominion Barn Dance.


Lynne Carnes has thrilled audiences with her beautiful and powerful voice since the 1980s. From her beginnings as a background singer with her brother Bobby, she ultimately became the lead vocalist of her family's band and one of Richmond's most talented and popular country music vocalists.

Lynne continues to perform in private venues in the Richmond, VA area, and the Old Dominion Barn Dance is proud to present her a member of its regular cast.



A native of Hampton, VA, Lee Blasingame is a multi-talented comedian, singer, voice over artist and master of ceremonies. He has been singing as long as he can remember, beginning with gospel groups touring churches in Virginia and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. As a comedian he was a member of the 1990’s cast of the Old Dominion Opry in Williamsburg, VA, where he portrayed numerous characters while also being a featured vocalist and emcee.

Lee’s professional credits also include performing at Busch Gardens and Nashville’s Opryland, where he appeared in the production of “Music, Music, Music” with country music legend Brenda Lee. As a voice over artist he has given voice to feature-length animated movies for the Christian Broadcast Network, and has appeared on TV’s The New Detectives and The Forensic Files. The Barn Dance is pleased to present such a talented fellow!



Multi award winning fiddler and member of the Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame, Cal Newman remembers growing up listening to the Old Dominion Barn Dance. One of his most vivid memories was hearing the show broadcast on a small radio receiver while serving in our nation’s military. As he cruised out of the Mediterranean Sea towards the states he joyfully admits, “After an extended voyage it was sure good to hear the sounds of home.”

Throughout the years Cal has performed or toured with many of the country greats including The Osborne Brothers and Tompall and the Glaser Brothers, and as a teenager was featured with the cast of the original Barn Dance at the invitation of Sunshine Sue.

Cal continues to amaze audiences with his musical talents on the fiddle and saxophone, and the Old Dominion Barn Dance is proud to have him back as a member of its cast.


Featured vocalist Danny Menzies is a veteran of several of our areas country bands, most notably the famed Menzies Family Band. With his mom Janet and sister Bobbie, Danny began performing at the age of five, making his first appearance on stage in the 1950s at the legendary New Dominion Barn Dance. He plays several instruments including drums and guitar, and besides singing lead and harmony vocals for the Barn Dance, Danny plays rhythm guitar for our staff band, the Barn Burners.



Mike Toney is one of our area's most talented and popular singers and musicians. A champion guitarist who has traveled the nation with his own band, Mike also began his musical journey as a singer at the tender age of 5, and as a lead guitarist at age 9. With his lifelong love of country music, this multi-talented performer is always a crowd pleaser as featured vocalist, while playing bass guitar for the Barn Burners.

The Barn Burners consist of some of Richmond’s most talented country music musicians, with more than 200 years of experience between them!

Richmond's legendary steel guitarist, veteran musician Ryland Tinnell, is band director for the Barn Burners. Bob Breckenkamp of the area's popular group Jackson Ward, brings his talents to the band as lead guitarist, and multi-talented Mike Toney sings lead and harmony vocals, while playing bass guitar for the band.

     Talented drummer Danny Booth has also performed with several of our area's local bands, as well as Nashville recording artists including Michael Martin Murphey. And rounding out the sound of the Barn Burners on keyboards is J.W. Belden, a talented and versatile musician who hails from a Grammy award-winning family. Together these guys are hard-working and dedicated to bringing the best music possible to the Barn Dance, and we are proud to have such an amazing group as our staff band. With so many talented and hot musicians, Danny and the Barn Burners are sure to burn the house down!


    The Peanut City Cloggers have entertained audiences in traditional and precision clogging for the past 33 years. The group is comprised of female and male dancers whose accomplishments include Overall Grand Champion Traditional and Precision clogging team. Individuals herald numerous clogging accolades such as Overall Male and Overall Female Traditional cloggers as well as Best Caller.  

  Additionally, among their ranks are All American Cloggers, Team of the Millennium and Team of the Decade cloggers. The dancers are under the Managing Direction of Donna Riley and Instructing Direction of Shamus Riley, mother and son.
